Playwriting Workshop

James Marshall has planned a Playwriting Workshop for the January Meeting!

He will be moderating a theatre panel of local theatre artists including Mike Werckle, Deborah Mogford, and Connie Kuntz. The purpose of the workshop is to help writers write for a team of theatre artists as well as an audience.

Theatre combines the art and skills of actors, directors, lighting designers, set designers, property masters, costume designers, producers, technicians, and more. Playwriting is all about collaboration. Come find out how to be a part of it!

Youth Director Lori Marshall also has something theatrical planned for her young writers. Says Marshall, “The Junior Guild members will choose to work alone or with a partner to develop a short (2 minute) theatrical piece. They will have the option to share these within the larger meeting.”

We will be also releasing LOVELY, the 2015 winter-spring edition of The Rockford Review, which, speaking of playwriting, includes the play Roundabout Rumble by David Ross. His satirical play was staged by West Side Show Room in the summer and was chosen as the entertainment portion of the RAAC “State of the Arts” Awards and Luncheon in the fall. The cast included Rockford’s Mayor Larry Morrissey, State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato, and Anne O’Keefe, the president and CEO of RAAC.

There will be a potluck, so please bring a salad or healthy snack to share.
